CHICAGO FIRE DEPARTMENT

My father has been a personal injury attorney in Illinois for 30 years.  He’s made all sorts of connections and is known throughout all the major law firms in the Chicagoland area.  He’s even been asked to lecture at law schools sometimes.  In fact, for a couple of years, he taught a few courses at a few of them.  If I wanted to follow in his footsteps, I’d easily get into law school and probably even get a scholarship for it.  After passing the bar, I’d get a job at any firm I wanted, even if I wanted to go into a different kind of law than my father practiced.  He really wanted me to become a lawyer like him though.  My brother always wanted to be a fireman and got on with the Chicago Fire Department and pretty much loves it like he thought he would.  That pretty much leaves me.  My cousin, my father’s nephew, got into law school and now practices personal injury law and basically did everything that my father wants me to do, but he’s still not satisfied because I haven’t done it.  But I’ve never been interested in becoming a lawyer.  I want to be an artist and my father knows this.  He even paid for me to take drawing classes when I was younger.
