FOLLOW ME

She has no idea about it yet, but I am planning to give her father a really tremendous golf gift.   The only problem is, I haven’t figured out just yet exactly WHAT the gift will be.  Should I just get him a complete set of clubs, balls, and a membership?  I don’t think he has any golf course membership that I know of, at least not according to Roxanne.  He belongs to a fitness club or something like the “Y”, but I don’t think he belongs to a country club or anything.  Yet, Roxanne seems to think that her dad really loves the game.  I certainly don’t.  Neither, in fact, does Roxanne.  Maybe I could splurge and get him and his wife a vacation package, say, at Indian Oaks out in Bloomingdale, or Pheasant Run or somewhere like that?  Wow, that would be quite expensive; that might be a little out of my league, as they say.  I know!  I’ll get him a day at a driving range.  Roxanne and I don’t have to tell him right up front.  We’ll just tell him to follow us to whichever golf course we drive to.  When we get there, won’t he be surprised!  I’ll tell you—I’ve never felt more like I’m sure to be accepted by my father-in-law, who also happens to be my younger sister’s seventh-grade science teacher!
